Since than Carolyn has volunteered with many rescue groups and served as Shelter Manger at Lake Tahoe Humane Society. She has owned two of her own pet sitting and dog training companies, Canine Home School in Charlotte, NC and Davis Islands Pet Care in Tampa, FL, and co-founded the 501c3 non-profit group Friends of Davis Islands Dog Parks. She has fostered and rehabbed many homeless dogs and owned 13 rescues of her own.
Carolyn recently moved to Asheville from Tampa with her husband, David, 2 teenage children, Abby and Owen, and her 2 canine rescues Pappy (4 year old Chihuahua/ Terrier mix) and Bodhi, (3 year old Border Collie).
Carolyn now enjoys spending her free time hiking, and working with her young, high energy dogs. She started agility training with Gail Hubbard at A Good Dog’s Life last year and competes in agility. Loving this new world of canine sports, she has received multiple titles in Treibball, a new canine sport from Germany. Bodhi has recieved his Masters in Treibball and is competing in Novice in agility. Pappy has received his Masters in Treibball and is competing in Excellent/Open in Agility.
What Carolyn loves most about working with dogs and dog owners is that they are all different. Even with her own dogs, what works for one, may not work at all for the other. She enjoys the challenge and diversity, but most of all loves to see owners really understand and connect with their canine companions. It’s not always easy, but it always rewarding.
